Responsibilities

Job Summary:Responsible for providing nursing care to patients in all areas of the facility including admitting, procedures and recovery. Duties of the registered nurse include thoroughly interviewing patients regarding their health history; IV skills; strong ability to assess patients' response to the medications and pain management; closely monitor/recover patients who've had endoscopic procedures who've received anesthesia. Must have knowledge of endoscopy procedural equipment, high-level disinfection processes and proper infection control practices per nationally recognized standards used by the facility. Supervise non-licensed personnel who are assigned to patient care and work collaboratively with business staff, clinical staff and physicians.

Job Duties:
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
  • Provide post-operative education to patients and families
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
  • Conduct specified laboratory tests.
  • Observe nurses and visit patients to ensure proper nursing care.
  • Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition

Qualifications

Education/Licensure/Certificates:
  • Current License as RN in the State of Texas
  • CPR and ACLS certified by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Previous experience working in an endoscopy center preferred
  • Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately

  • Good clinical assessment skills and nursing judgment, flexibility and basic computer skills.
