Ahuja Stepdown:

The Ahuja SDU is a 16 bed surgical and medical intermediate care floor. We care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs who have downgraded from a critical need but still need close monitoring. The team consists of highly skilled nurses, providers, advanced practice nurses, patient care assistants, and other ancillary staff who are dedicated to caring for patients and families. Our Step Down nurses are trained to care for cardiac patients post procedure, such as, post heart cath, post ablation, and post cath with TR Band. The team strives to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and families. Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1:4.

Common Diagnoses:

Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Pre/Post heart cath, and Ablations, Vascular surgery, Thoracic surgery, Stemi, Sepsis, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, Gastric bleeding, Overdose, and Alcohol Withdrawal

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Dimensions are Implements the nursing process by delivering effective relationship based nursing care.

Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.

Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.

Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice.

Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices.

1 year RN experience preferred.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from accredited program preferred.

Minimum of Diploma/Associate's Degree in nursing from accredited program.

License Requirements:

Registered nurse with current license to practice in the state of Ohio.

Current BLS Provider Certification, issued by the American Heart Association, must be obtained during Nursing Orientation.
