A transplant RN (registered nurse) is a nurse who specializes in providing care to patients who have undergone a transplant procedure. The job duties of a transplant RN typically include the following:
Assessing patients' physical and emotional needs, and developing and implementing care plans.
Administering medications and monitoring patients for complications related to their transplant.
Educating patients and their families about post-transplant care, including monitoring for rejection and managing medications.
Collaborating with other members of the healthcare team, including surgeons, physicians, and other specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Monitoring patients' vital signs and lab values, and reporting any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
Assisting with pre- and post-transplant procedures, including donor and recipient evaluations, and post-operative care.
Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, and communicating with patients' primary care physicians as needed.
The ideal candidate for a transplant RN position should have a strong background in nursing, with experience in critical care and transplantation. They should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work well as part of a team. Additionally, transplant RNs should have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and be able to quickly assess and respond to patient needs. A passion for helping patients and a commitment to providing high-quality care are also essential for success in this role.
This is a not full time but contracted travel position.
