Summary:

UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for a full-time Rehab Services Aide position. Supporting our Enhanced Rehabilitation program in the acute hospital setting, the Rehab Aide will offer non-skilled mobilization and activity assistance to patients under the supervision of a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist within a variety of acute care settings. This person will collaborate directly with the interdisciplinary team to provide exceptional patient-centered care.

Excellent customer service, time management, and communication skills are required for this fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday coverage.

Responsibilities:
1. Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
2. Prepares patients and area for treatments.
3. Assist therapists in implementing patient care programs.
4. Assists patients on or off therapy equipment.
5. Transports patients to and from treatment area.
6. Cleans work area and equipment after treatment.
7. Communicates effectively with members of the healthcare team.
8. Completes competencies as assigned.

Other Information

Education Requirements:
• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Professional Experience Requirements:
• One month related experience and/or training desired.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
