Position Summary
Assists with the delivery of patient care under the direction and direct supervision of licensed physical therapy and occupational therapy staff. Transports patients and equipment. Performs assigned inventory storage duties, cleaning and office duties. Will need to be involved in team dynamics and participate in interdisciplinary activities when appropriate.
Responsibilities
Assists with patient care activities: under the direction and direct supervision of a licensed therapist (PT,OT, PTA, COTA) and only within the scope and knowledge, skills and legal restrictions Examples include: preparing treatment areas, assisting with transfers and mobility activities, supervise/perform simple exercise programs, guard patient for safety during gait, transfer, balance and ADL activities, assist patients with endurance training activities, provide assistance for wound care or treatment using modalities.
Transports patients and equipment following all safety procedures, transfers patients safely, pushes wheelchairs, stretchers, attachments such as IV, wound vac, oxygen tanks.
Assists with non-clinical duties such as infection control, inventory and supplies including ordering, reconciling status of supplies ordered and received, and recording such. Assists with office duties including answering telephones, filing, copying etc. Attends and participates in all mandatory inservices/meetings. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Assists with orientation of new personnel per supervisor's discretion
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School or Equivalent or higher degree is required
Ability to communicate effectively and interact pleasantly with patients and co-workers of varied backgrounds.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient.
Less than 3 years of service with system is required.
Preferred Requirements
-Prior experience as PT or OT technician.
-Prior experience in direct patient care in position such as Nursing Assistant, Patient Transporter, etc.
