Job Summary: The Rehabilitation Technician (Rehab Tech) at Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center plays a crucial role in supporting the rehabilitation team by providing direct assistance to therapists and patients. This position involves preparing therapy equipment, assisting with patient transport, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for all rehabilitation activities. The Rehab Tech is essential in helping patients achieve their therapy goals and maintaining the overall efficiency of the rehabilitation department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Therapy Support:

o Assist therapists in setting up and organizing therapy equipment.

o Prepare treatment areas for patient therapy sessions.

o Provide hands-on support during therapy sessions as directed by licensed therapists.

• Patient Care:

o Safely transport patients to and from therapy sessions, ensuring their comfort and safety.

o Assist patients with exercises, activities, and the use of therapy equipment as instructed by therapists.

o Monitor patients during therapy sessions and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.

o Help patients with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, and mobility as needed.

• Documentation and Reporting:

o Accurately file and manage patient therapy documentation in medical records.

o Report any incidents, accidents, or changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare staff promptly.

o Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

• Equipment Maintenance and Safety:

o Ensure therapy equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored after each use.

o Conduct routine inspections of therapy equipment to ensure it is in good working order.

o Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Collaboration and Communication:

o Work closely with therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.

o Participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and any necessary adjustments to care plans.

o Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide clear instructions and support.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in a related field preferred.

• Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant

• Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting is an advantage.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to lift and move patients safely, with a minimum lifting requirement of 25 pounds.

• Basic knowledge of rehabilitation techniques and equipment.

• Must demonstrate the ability to work well in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.

• Must be able to lift, move, and transfer patients and equipment.

• Ability to perform repetitive motions and tasks as required by therapy sessions.

• Must be able to handle the physical and emotional demands of working with patients with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a clinical setting with exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals, and potential injury from equipment.

• May be required to work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet patient needs.

• Subject to frequent interruptions and interactions with emotionally upset patients, families, and staff.
