Insight Global is looking for a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to work for an end client located in St. Petersburg, FL. This person will be responsible for leading new product development and R&D projects relating to energy storage. He/She will work on the electrical team and cross functionally with the mechanical, software, and quality teams. This person will sit on technical customer discussion meetings and work with the project managers on design quotations. They must have an exceptional understanding of power electronics starting at the design, creating simulations, making test plans, testing the product, and making certifications or patents for the product itself. He/She will also be evaluating electronics system operation and recommend design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or changes in system requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

At least a Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering

at least 5 years of work experience in electrical hardware

Power Electronics background including: AC/DC, DC/AC and DC/DC power conversion, DC/DC power supply, grid-connected inverters including 3-level and 5-level inverters, energy storage

Experience writing and designing to specifications and test plans

Electronics design background, schematics capture, and simulation tools (ex: MatLab, Simulink, LTspice, Altium, Cadence, Ansys etc.)

Experience with embedded systems, processor selection, various communication protocols, analog design, sensor design, low power design, audio technologies and display

Experience in testing, debugging and validating designs

Strong experience creating PCB boards and layouts

Must have experience with high power levels: 1000's watts-megawatts

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Masters or PHD in electrical or Power electronics

UL Certification
