Job Description:

Pre-Award Administration: Responsible for overseeing the development and preparation of sponsored program applications, preparing and editing budgets and budget narratives, ensuring all application directives are met and responded to appropriately under strict deadlines. Assist faculty to identify possible funding sources for their research, advising on proposal preparation as appropriate. Review agency submission guidelines and procedures for compliance. Work with various electronic proposal systems (such as UFIRST, Grants.gov, eraCommons, etc.) and core offices. Work closely with PI's to prepare budgets that include the calculation of personnel salaries, project expenses and facilities cost. Responsible for assuring all proposals are routed for department approval, liaising with the College of Medicine, other Colleges and the Division of Sponsored Research.

Release awards in UFIRST including sub-awards and subprojects, center declarations, and effort commitments. Initiate payroll distributions based on the budget and confirmation from PI. Process post-award changes for sponsor approval. Process modifications in UFIRST for project changes, distributions, increments, monitoring sub-awards, center designations, modifications, CAS exemptions, etc. Assist in the transfer of grants from other institutions for all new faculty. Complete annual space reports. Complete effort reporting, etc. Update monthly PI reports and present them to portfolio faculty on a regular basis. Provide projections to faculty as needed for project management and hiring.

Minimum Requirements:

Research Administrator I - Bachelor degree or equivalent

Research Administrator II - Bachelor degree and two years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with grant writing, previous research experience, knowledge of grants, writing grants, negotiating research contracts and working with the Internal Review Board (IRB). Must have the ability to interpret, apply grant and contract guidelines, and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of University of Florida, State and Federal Rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to extramural grant and research contracts.
