Job Duties

The Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia is seeking applicants for the position of Research Analyst for the Court Improvement Program. The Program focuses on improving the court system's ability to manage and resolve cases involving children who are abused, neglected, or in foster care. Virginia has received grant funding for this program from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since 1995.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The Research Analyst (i) evaluates and analyzes data involving juvenile and domestic relations district court processing of abuse, neglect, and foster care cases, (ii) developing and coordinating programs and projects to enhance court processes to improve the safety and permanency of children in the foster care system; (iii) supporting strategic planning, budget development, and grant reporting; (vi) preparing and delivering presentations; (vii) working collaboratively to support systemic improvements; (viii) working collaboratively with other team members and assisting as requested by the Director. Occasional overnight travel is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public administration or related field, or equivalent experience and knowledge;

Demonstrated application of continuous quality improvement techniques.

Additional Considerations

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

Minimum of two years of experience in the juvenile and domestic relations district court or social services system, including knowledge of the processing of abuse, neglect, and foster care cases, or equivalent experience and knowledge;

Demonstrated ability to compile, analyze, and visualize qualitative and quantitative data;

Demonstrated ability to organize and guide projects;

Excellent oral and written communication skills;

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills;

Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines;

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint; and SurveyMonkey/other online survey tool;
