About the opportunity:

Mathematica is looking for a highly organized Research Analysts to contribute and support research on programs and policies for people with disabilities. As a part of a project team, the Research Analyst will lead or participate actively and thoughtfully in project teams to implement, monitor, or evaluate policies and programs.

Important employment information:

This project is in the proposal stage, so if selected for hire, your employment will be contingent upon the successful award of work. If you are offered a Research Associate opportunity and Mathematica is awarded the work, the anticipated start-date of this role will be early September 2024. This role will be full-time, and you will be a regular employee of Mathematica. If you are contacted by our Talent Acquisition team, you will receive more information and details about this process.

As a Research Analyst, you will:
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person meetings to monitor and assess participant progress against pre-determined milestones
  • Author project reports, memos, technical assistance tools, issue briefs, and webinar presentations
  • Participating in decisions regarding monitoring design and methodology
  • Reviewing policy, program, and/or data documentation to develop technical specifications for analyses
  • Provide logistical and operational support to assist with planning complex and diverse projects and tasks, managing schedules and finances, and executing high quality deliverables to help Mathematica meet client objectives.
  • Compile and track information in spreadsheets and databases (for example, Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, and Project or other collaborative tools such as Atlassian Confluence or Jira) and report action-oriented findings to the project team, the client, or both.


Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • Able to travel domestically multiple times per year
  • Willing to undergo background investigation to obtain public trust security clearance
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to explain observations and findings to diverse stakeholder audiences including program administrators, policymakers, and grant recipients
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail; flexibility to lead and manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadlines
  • Experience with Excel, SharePoint, CRM tool(s), and/or other collaborative tools such as Atlassian Confluence or Jira.
  • An aptitude for proactive problem-solving.
  • A high level of organization and attention to detail.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or experience tracking, monitoring, and reporting on projects
This role offers an anticipated base salary of $70,000 - $95,000 annually.
