Job Summary Under general supervision of the manager of the Office of Research and Graduate Education, helps guides strategic direction of the School of Veterinary Medicine's (SVM) collaborative research efforts. Provides high-level administrative and analytical support for the research enterprise. Facilitates connections and fosters collaborations among SVM faculty with shared research goals. Works to leverage the institutional expertise and collaborations to grow the SVM research enterprise. Monitors and analyzes information regarding research funding opportunities, policies and procedures and provides consultative services to department faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders. Assists in the coordination of grant proposals to extramural sponsors. Other duties include writing reports, outreach materials, marketing materials, maintaining a library of boilerplate language for grant proposals, and updating/designing web sites.

This position is eligible for a hybrid arrangement of remote and in-office work.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in adapting to a fast-paced, ever-changing collaborative environment.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meeting deadlines and expectations, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of research practices, theories, and techniques and thorough knowledge of a multitude of Sponsor processes, protocols, and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff and faculty of all levels and influence, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS/MA or other advanced degree.
  • Knowledge about UC Davis research process, protocols, and procedures.
  • Active in National Organization of Research Development Personnel (NORDP) and/or Certified Research Administrator (CRA).

The Office of Research and Graduate Education provides services and information to our faculty, students and staff regarding research efforts, outreach programs and centers, funding opportunities, graduate education, and related publications. It is responsible for all activities relating to sponsored and organized research, graduate education and veterinary student research programs.
