Job Description

Dr. Jared May seeks a qualified Research Assistant.

The candidate will be responsible for supporting day-to-day laboratory operations, including the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

Primary duties will involve performing experiments related to an NIH-funded project focused on how plant viruses affect cellular translation and RNA interference. The candidate will ensure accurate documentation of experimental procedures and results by maintaining thorough laboratory records. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to adhere to all laboratory safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Strong organizational and analytical skills are essential in this role, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a B.S./B.A. in Biology or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA purification, RT-qPCR, and molecular cloning.

Experience in plant biology is considered a plus, it is not required for this position.
