The Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital seeks a per-diem Research Assistant to join our multidisciplinary research team and learn cutting-edge radiology and computational research. As a Research Assistant (RA), you will be deeply involved in our interdisciplinary research projects focused on the brain's white matter connections. You may aid in analyzing data, synthesize literature, participate in writing sections of manuscripts and grant proposals, organize and curate data, learn neuroanatomy and perform image segmentation, aid in producing website content, help disseminate our research results, and learn to operate, test, and document our open-source software. The job is well suited for self-driven individuals who wish to blend their analytical skills with a passion for healthcare innovation without the need for direct patient interaction. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in curation of data and sharing of research results
  • Assisting in dissemination of research including websites and open-source software
  • Learning neuroanatomical rules for brain segmentation and performing expert segmentations
  • Learning our open-source software and aiding in its testing and documentation
  • Assisting in analyses of quantitative data
  • Conducting literature reviews on relevant research topics
  • Assisting in the preparation of research documents, presentations, grant proposals, manuscripts, and journal articles.
  • Corresponding with and preparing materials for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for protocol amendments, consent form changes, and annual reports
  • Attending meetings with the PI and regularly scheduled project-specific and group-wide meetings
  • Performing administrative duties, such as preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes


Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor's degree with a strong foundation in technical writing, brain imaging, and data analysis. We value flexibility, initiative, and independence as well as interest in medicine, neuroscience, biostatistics, and/or computer programming. Some prior research experience is desired but not required.
