Research Assistant/Lab Manager, Reese Lab

Are you excited about biology research, and would like to join a team doing cutting edge work on the fundamental biology of the causative agent of a major human disease?

The Michael Reese lab at the UT Southwestern Medical Center is looking for a new lab manager (Research Assistant). We are looking for someone with excellent organizational and communication skills with a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate should have experience in some combination of basic molecular cloning, tissue culture, and/or biochemistry.

Whether you are most interested in learning some new techniques in biochemistry, molecular genetics, or cell biology, or just more generally interested in understanding how Toxoplasma has become the most successful parasite in the world, you will fit right in.

Experience and Education

• Master's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. or

• Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and one (1) year research experience at level of Research Technician or equivalent. or

• Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and four (4) years research experience including two (2) years at level of Research Technician or equivalent. or

• High school graduation or GED and six (6) years research experience to include two (2) years at level of Research Technician or equivalent.

Job Duties

• Perform research on Toxoplasma cell biology.

• Maintenance of lab cell culture lines.

• Ensure organization and maintenance of all lab supplies .

• Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

• Records and evaluates data obtained from work assignments for use in scientific papers.

• Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning procedures and implementation.

• May plan for, and provide working supervision to, the work of Research Technicians or other laboratory personnel of lower grade.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
