Job Description:

The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida invites qualified individuals to apply for a Research Assistant Scientist position. This new position is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) non-tenure track faculty position. The department is seeking a dynamic individual with extramural grant funding and a strong publication record. The applicant is expected to be a scientist with expertise in respiratory neural control that enjoys working in a highly collaborative environment and interacts effectively with a diverse and multidisciplinary group of faculty, staff, researchers, clinicians, and trainees.

The Department of Physical Therapy faculty is strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching, and has received numerous national teaching and research awards. The Department offers two educational programs: an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and training in Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD).

Minimum Requirements:

PhD Degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Expertise in respiratory physiology and neurobiology

Current grant funding and an excellent publication record

Advanced post-doctoral training

Knowledge of spinal cord biology

Experience in cell and molecular methods applied to the central nervous system.
