The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates for two Research Associate positions to assist in the development of polymer composites from recycled materials in Professor Xiaodong (Chris) Li's lab.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A PhD in one of the following fields - Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required by the start date of the position. The successful candidates need to have a background in polymers, composites, and reinforcement research. Experience with polymer composite synthesis and characterization, and mechanical characterization techniques, including but not limited to scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and X-ray diffraction as well as mechanical testing techniques, including but not limited to tension/compression testing and indentation is required. The candidates shall be expected to research, develop, manufacture, and demonstrate polymer composites from recycled materials.
