The Health and Wellbeing Team at Meta is seeking a Research Audiologist/Hearing Scientist who will report to the Director of Health and Wellbeing Research and work alongside other members of the Health and Wellbeing team, aiming to improve health outcomes throughout the world. We seek someone with a drive to improve the lives of people with hearing impairments and a passion for innovation. This is an opportunity for an expert in hearing science/audiology to contribute through their research expertise to the developing Health and Wellness program at Meta. The ideal candidate can manage technical and scientific research related to audiology and hearing science. They can align internal stakeholders (e.g. research teams, engineering, analysts, legal) and external partners (i.e. vendors, academic collaborators, IRB, regulators, etc) to help the team achieve concrete research and product development goals. The ideal candidate has deep experience executing high quality scientific research and understands the goals and needs required to ship high quality digital products. The candidate brings experience working in interdisciplinary teams, is highly collaborative as well as self-driven, and able to execute in a fast-paced environment.

Research Audiologist / Hearing Scientist Responsibilities


  • Domain expert for audiology/hearing science research, collaborating with other clinical research scientists, clinical operations, and biostatisticians.

  • Develop research study protocols and oversee study execution, for both internal and external studies with research organizations and vendors.

  • Align operational aspects of research with the needs of other internal stakeholders including engineering, legal, and product requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, record, and maintain accurate research data

  • maintain relevant study documentation and reporting.

  • Assist research team with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission and compliance management.

  • Assist research team with the assessment and implementation of new processes to gain efficiencies for study set up and execution.

  • Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including audiometry evaluations in relation to wearable devices in clinical setting.

  • Proficiency with audiometric equipment, software, data analytical tools.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • AuD, PhD, or Masters in Audiology/Hearing Sciences, or related field.

  • 10+ years experience in relevant audiology/hearing science research.

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary research and/or product development teams.

  • Expertise in execution and reporting of audiology/hearing science research projects.

  • Experience communicating and working with cross-functional teams spanning clinical research, engineering, product management, legal, etc.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Research experience in hearing aids at a University, Research Center or Manufacturer.

  • Product development experience for a hearing aid manufacturer and/or managed clinical studies for a medical device company.

  • Worked with engineers to develop and test hearing algorithms.

  • Clinical audiology experience.
