The Research & Development intern will support the R&D group within the NorPro business unit.

As an intern at Saint-Gobain NorPro, you will be directly involved in R&D projects within one of our ceramic materials groups: process ceramics or catalytic. You will work alongside our world-class researchers contributing to solutions in key development programs. You will have the opportunity to build a lasting professional network, work on meaningful projects, and interact directly with our company executives. All of this allows you to gain the necessary skills and knowledge.

Our internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in a specialized industry, as well as fulfill business needs by completing necessary tasks and projects. Candidates will have the opportunity to engage in a full spectrum of tasks, and an overall understanding of how NorPro operates.

This internship will be 40 hours per for Summer 2024 with the possibility to work part-time during the Fall term.
  • Support new product design for early stage developments under the direction of an engineer or manager
  • Ability to assembly and disassembly equipment and operate safely
  • Support creation of prototypes and product testing
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and make recommendations for future work.
  • Provide support to manufacturing line when needed

  • Must be currently enrolled in BS, MS, PH.D program (Junior/Senior level) in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ceramics, Material, or Data Science or other related technical disciplines.
  • Previous research/intern experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical thinking and analysis skills. Have a creative problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally across diverse groups of employees and vendors, with the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Fluent with MS Office Suite to include PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills
  • Strong technical writing skills - preparing training documentation, work instructions, One Point Lessons, and process documentation
  • Ability to work with hands in order to demonstrate tasks or functions for new equipment
  • Ability to analyze data and write reports in a clear way
  • Work safely and effectively with a diverse R&D team actively supporting a culture of safety
