This position involves performing all forms of routine histology on animal and human tissues of all types as well as adapting/modifying current techniques and developing new techniques to meet each researcher's needs. The incumbent will need to learn emerging techniques and contribute to maintaining the facility as state-of-art, including complex methods. Techniques include (but are not limited to) histochemical, immunohistochemical, and molecular. In addition, this position involves the creation of paraffin tissue microarrays (TMA), a method of visualizing multiple cases and tissue types using one paraffin block. Troubleshooting of complex immunohistochemistry and other special staining techniques is required.
