The Research Principal will provide advanced level research and clinical and administrative support to the study in a laboratory conducting multi-dimensional studies of neural, cognitive, and affective aspects of emotional (dys)function and health equity, as well as clinical trials research focused on novel neurocognitive interventions for adolescent depression and anxiety (e.g., neurofeedback, augmented reality-based interventions). The candidate will also provide mentorship, training, & assistance with supervising junior research staff. This position provides full time research assistance by completing clinical interviews; delivering psychoeducation modules on behavioral activation and exposure therapy; conducting or supervising neuroimaging (EEG), augmented reality, and behavioral research protocols; managing data collected during assessments; and providing lab management assistance to the Principal Investigator.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct clinical assessments/interviews with adolescents and their caregivers focused on psychiatric and psychological functioning, as well as exposure to adverse life experiences such as trauma and discrimination.
  • Deliver psychotherapy psychoeducation modules detailing skills relevant to behavioral activation and exposure therapy.
  • Administer or provide supervision to junior colleagues administering neurobehavioral assessments to adolescent research subjects, including the collection of questionnaire data, neuropsychological assessments, and neuroimaging (EEG) during computer-based and augmented reality environments.
  • Assistance in the collection, management, processing, and analysis of data from the research assessments, interviews, and questionnaires and in the management and delivery of related equipment.
  • Keep a flexible schedule to accommodate schedules of both research subjects and research facilities, including morning, evening, and weekend availability.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide policy, procedure, competencies, and behaviors.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Masters degree required preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Counseling, Sociology, or related research field.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Ability to interact skillfully with clinical populations, with an emphasis on adolescence.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and ability to prioritize among multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience with EEG data collection or analysis preferred.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology required.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours is required, including routinely working weekends and evenings.

  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
