The Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB) is dedicated to fostering the healthy brain function of children across the lifespan with the mission to set and maintain a healthy trajectory for all children toward positive life outcomes through early neurobehavioral and mental health assessment, innovative targeted interventions, informed policy-making, compassionate child-advocacy, and community education. The MIDB's mission of basic and clinical research in the field of neurobehavioral development is supported by a multi-specialty clinic and multiple research hubs including: Analytics, Informatics, Neuroimaging, Center for Neurobehavioral Development, Translational Neuroscience, Novel Intervention, TeleOutreach, and Community Engagement and Education.

The MIDB is seeking to hire a Research Project Specialist 1 to provide project management and support for two ongoing programs.

MIDB TeleOutreach Hub

The MIDB TeleOutreach Hub, a center in collaboration with the University's Institute on Community Integration. The TeleOutreach Hub works to advance our approach to brain health by leveraging technology to enhance development of, awareness of, access to, collaboration with, and diverse participation in MIDB activities.

This role will work independently and in partnership with the director of MIDB Research Hubs, the director and associate director of the TeleOutreach Hub, and MIDB faculty and staff to provide research support to University of Minnesota faculty and staff members; community-based researchers; and individuals interested in participating in clinical research support through program coordination, project and data management.

MIDB Clinic-Research Integration

The MIDB Clinic-Research Integration initiative bridges the clinical and clinical research enterprises within the MIDB. This role will work independently and in partnership with the Clinic-Research Faculty Lead, MIDB Clinic Manager and Supervisor, Fairview Research Administration, and MIDB faculty and staff to develop and establish new workflows for MIDB clinic research services, develop and operationalize programmatic priorities, and provide program coordination for interdisciplinary teams.

This role requires superior organizational, communication, problem-solving, and data management skills, as well as some degree of research experience. Within this role, you will provide project management for multiple ongoing research projects, as well as facilitate new opportunities for collaboration. You will have the opportunity to work with a host of talented individuals and draw on new resources from the MIDB.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

MIDB TeleOutreach Hub Project Management (45%)
  • Partner with TeleOutreach Hub directors to review service requests, determine scope of work, identify TeleOutreach resources required for research requests, develop appropriate cost estimates, and ensure satisfactory follow up of all TeleOutreach-related requests and deliverables.
  • Provide project management support to existing and ongoing funded projects, including documentation, agenda-setting and meeting facilitation, and regular communication with study teams.
  • Collaborate with the MIDB project management community of practice to review and refine existing processes and provide input on operational and strategic initiatives that affect the MIDB Research Cores.
  • Monitor, track, and report on project progress to TeleOutreach Hub leadership. Identify challenges and solutions to keep projects moving forward.

MIDB Clinic-Research Integration Project Management (45%)
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary teams across the clinic and research departments, ensuring projects remain on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
  • Support the intake and correspondences of all MIDB requests that engage and involve the clinic; ensure satisfactory follow up of all clinic-related requests
  • As the major interface between clinic and research units, proactively identify barriers to achievement with partners and communicate to leaders.
  • Serve as liaison between MIDB researchers and MIDB Clinic; participate in relevant planning processes and meetings, in order to remain informed about and provide input on operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed protocols and other administrative materials to operationalize clinic-research services for stakeholders.
  • Partner with clinic + research leaders to develop implementation plans to achieve strategic plan.
  • Partner with Fairview Research Administration to assist clinic leadership in developing policies and workflows for MIDB clinic research services.
  • Regularly connect with University of Minnesota and Fairview staff, providers, and researchers.

General Support and Administration (10%)
  • Summarize and identify action steps/to do items for each meeting along with necessary timelines.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive timelines, project plans, and identify resources to manage and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain an organized digital filing system where all project documentation can be easily accessed and reviewed by relevant parties.
  • Effectively deliver, track, and manage all project data and reporting, including annual and ad hoc impact reports as well as regular reporting requirements for funders and donors.
  • Develop and implement tools to manage resources, personnel, capacity, and deadlines.
  • Set agendas and action items for leadership and operational meetings.


Qualifications

All required qualification must be documented in application materials.

Required
  • BA/BS with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; advanced editing and proofreading skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in order to coordinate and problem solve across multiple projects; excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work amidst changing priorities and under tight deadlines or changing needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation, and as part of a team and with changing priorities and quick deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; experience managing teams.
  • Proficient with various technology applications including MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), Internet applications, data entry, email, calendaring, database software.

Preferred
  • Experience working in a clinical research environment.
  • Experience and knowledge working with Epic flowsheets and Epic data operations.
  • Experience entering, managing, and coordinating various databases and sources of data.
  • Experience working with diverse and immigrant communities.
  • Experience with academic research practices and grant/protocol development including IRB processes and study design and implementation, project data collection and analysis.
