Job Summary:

Will assist with the development of community Performs biomedical &/or social-behavioral research by administering tests &/or questionnaires following protocols. Collects, compiles, tabulates &/or processes responses; gathers information. Assists in the preparation of material for inclusion in reports. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).

This position will work with recruiting English and Spanish speaking patients diagnosed with one of the following diseases: Parkinson, Huntington, Dystonia and other other Movement Disorders to clinical trials consisting of treatment therapies, registry studies and/or mobile device studies.

This is a Part-Time position (20 hours per week). This candidate must be willing to work weekends, as most of the community engagement events are doing on weekends. The target hiring range for this position will be between $23.00 to $24.86 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by applicants education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical
  • Conducts interviews and assessments of assigned patient population for clinical research evaluation.
  • Assists with basic research activities including recruitment and retention events.
  • Reviews & obtains informed consent.
  • Schedules study visits with participants.
  • Collects survey data.
  • Reviews medical records.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, clinicans and research team members.
  • Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow.
Administration
  • Facilitates partnerships with community partners in the Chicagoland area with primary and initial focus on African American and Hispanic communities.
  • Serves as a health education resource linking to appropriate support services, clinical treatments or online education as appropriate.
Finance
  • Processes reimbursements for travel expenses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR
  • Fluent Spanish is required.
  • Prior experience in working in the Chgoland communities
  • Prior clinical research experience with human subjects or must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years.
