Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biological sciences. Experience with PCR. Experience with transgenic animal models (Cre/lox and reporter systems in mice). Experience with animal models of disease and tissue harvest, preparation and/or genotyping.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, RNA pulldown and/or In situ hybridization assays. Experience in working with mice. Experience with immunohistochemistry and/or immunofluorescence microscopy. Knowledge of IACUC and/or other protocol submissions.

Brief Description of Duties:
Our research focus on investigating the role of non-coding RNA in polycystic kidney disease (PKD). We utilize multiple mouse model of the disease to investigate how non-coding RNA affect formation and progression of PKD. Our work include generating mouse models of PKD and performing molecular and physiological analysis to determine the contribution of non-coding RNA in PKD. The successful incumbent is expected to have data produced presented to and critiqued by colleagues, and should possess strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate should have experience with performing, designing and troubleshooting complex molecular biology protocols. The ideal candidate should have experience with performing quantification of microscopic imaging.

Duties:
  • Maintenance and Breeding of Transgenic Mice:
    • Weaning, sexing, and breeding of mice.
    • Timely and accurate genotyping and record keeping of mice produced for the lab.
    • Collection of tissue, blood, and urine from animal models of kidney disease.
  • Conducting experiments in collaboration with lab staff:
    • Perform basic mouse surgeries that include kidney perfusion, and organ dissecting.
    • Utilize software such as Image J to perform complex statistical analysis and measurements such as kidney cyst index and number.
  • Lab maintenance duties:
    • Ordering and stocking of lab supplies.
    • Troubleshooting and working with vendors to maintain equipment• Cleaning and organization of lab space.
  • Other duties as assigned.
