JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the faculty researcher, the Research Technician 2 works in collaboration with team members and stakeholders to carry out all aspects of physical activity and metabolism-related research and translational and clinical research in the field of OBGYN. This position carries out scholarly activities affiliated with the Physical Activity and Metabolism (PAM) Lab and support grant-funded projects affiliated with the PAM Lab and/or awarded to the Department of OBGYN.

This position carries out scholarly activities affiliated with the Physical Activity and Metabolism (PAM) Lab and support grant-funded projects affiliated with the PAM Lab and/or awarded to the Department of OBGYN.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists investigators with the design of studies by reviewing proposals to determine methods best suited to study objectives.
- Assists investigator and research team with the execution and coordination of Investigator-Initiated Clinical and Translational Research affiliated with the PAM Lab and/or Department of OBGYN.
- Assists faculty with the management and maintenance of study-specific IRB documents.
- Performs a variety of routine tests, sample processing, and experiments, after appropriate training from direct supervisor according to established standard scientific and clinical research protocols.
- Assists with the maintenance of study-specific Master Trial File and Essential Trial Documents.
- Assists with screening potential subjects, reviewing and documenting patient medical histories and concurrent medication lists, obtaining informed consent from patients, coordinating study visits, and collecting study data.
- Assists with the acquisition, management, and maintenance of study supplies including any study-related medical equipment, lab supplies, and subject diaries.
- Assists investigator and research team with regulatory and compliance activities.
- Collects samples, specimens, and other data from human participants and processes/sorts/measures/labels/ships samples and specimens.
- Facilitates study-specific communications and meetings with investigators and other team members and completes other tasks as directed that may be required to facilitate research activities in the PAM Lab and/or the Department of OB/GYN.
- Troubleshoots system and technical laboratory problems after consultation with the supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Health or Biological Science, or related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to create and maintain extensive medical records on clinical research subjects.
- Ability to understand complex diagnoses and procedures.
- Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, medical records, documentation, and HIPPA regulations.
- Understanding of Basic Research Principles for Clinical and Applied Science Research Studies.
- Knowledge of basic biosafety and lab protocols and procedures.
- Knowledge of research protocols.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Intermediate-level computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications for various electronic data capture programs.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends.
