Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary

This position will assist with field and lab work for various projects related to aquatic ecology and conservation. The position will also assist with data management with potential opportunities for assisting with data analysis and writing.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

• Competency in word processing programs (e.g, Word) as well as data management software including Excel.
• Famailiarity with program R and ArcPro.
• Experience with aquatic invertebrate identification.

Physical Demands

• Able to lift 50 lbs and be comfortable working in challenging field conditions, including walking in streams and rivers or hiking up to 3 miles.
• Driving as needed to perform job related duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with field work on various projects related to aquatic ecology and conservation: including but not limited to fish and invertebrate collection, water quality collection, geomorphic surveys and floodplain surveys.

Percentage of time 45 Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with standard aquatic ecology laboratory work including invertebrate sorting and identification, water quality analysis, and other standard tasks.

Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with field and lab equipment management and data management on various projects. May also include assisting with data analysis and writing.

Assist with various administrative duties.
