Job Summary

The Division of Hematology and Oncology is seeking a Research Technician II. This position supports Dr. Conzen's research laboratory and will be performing scientific and medical research work in areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related fields. Constructs, assembles, and operates laboratory equipment and apparatus. Records and evaluates data obtained from work assignments for use in scientific papers. Collaborates with supervisor or other research personnel in preparation of scientific papers for publication. Collects and organizes research data for project reports. Assist postdoctoral fellows and scientists with ongoing research projects. Help maintain and order equipment for the lab. Keep inventory, stock, and place orders for the lab. Organize and log requisitions as well as communicate with members of the lab and administrative staff. Will keep excellent notes and also organize data, discussing results with postdoctoral fellows and the lab supervisor.

Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. or
  • Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent. or
  • High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
Job Duties
  • Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
  • Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
  • Assists in collection of data for project reports.
  • Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
