Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting research in hematopoietic-bone cell interactions and bone healing utilizing various research techniques and procedures.
- Conducts a wide range of experiments with a degree of independence and willingness to learn new techniques (Ongoing experiments include NIH and VA funded research in aging fracture healing and pain studies as well as alzheimer's and fracture studies).
- Utilizes standard molecular and cell biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, light and fluorescent microscopy, FACS (staining and analysis), and reagent preparation.
- Responsible for animal handling.
- Performs tasks using MS Office, prism, micro CT reconstruction software, bone histomorphometry software, bone histomorphometry, bone biomechanics, micro CT, X-ray, and dexa imaging.
- Monitors inventory levels of needed materials, supplies, and equipment in support of research projects.
- Prepares supplies for appropriate use in field experiments.
- Sets up experiment apparatuses according to established protocols.
- Prepares reports and maintains all relevant documentation.
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
- Bachelor's degree
