Job Summary

Conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of a limited number of standard scientific techniques.

This will be a 1-year renewable position based upon performance and funding availability. This position is a FULL-TIME position at 40.0 hours per week and works on-site.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $17.05 to $23.98 per hour ($35,600.4 to $50,070.24 annual). Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments and completes basic trouble-shooting techniques.
  • Sets-up, operates and maintains standard lab equipment.
  • May direct or instruct other laboratory personnel or students in research techniques and procedures.
  • Performs scientific literature searches as required. Attends and participates in lab meetings.
  • Using an entry level of skill, completes the following activities
  • Records test results and may maintain databases.
  • Maintains inventory of reagents, mice and lab supplies
  • Completes other duties as assigned
Molecular Biology:
  • DNA, Protein isolation, purification and expression
  • Western blotting
  • PCR, RT-PCR
  • Plasmid preparation
  • Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA
Cellular Biology:
  • Functional studies
Histology:
  • Microscopy
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out laboratory experiments and to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocol.
  • Demonstrated reliability and responsibility to perform job duties.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping in notebooks and databases.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in a basic science

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Eagerness and ability to learn new techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and eagerness to work on independent projects.
  • Prior experience working with yeast
