Job Summary:
The Eichner Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at Northwestern University invites applications for a Research Technologist II position. The Eichner Laboratory studies transcriptional dependencies in cancer using molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, in vivo models, and next generation sequencing approaches. Dr. Lillian Eichner is an expert in lung cancer biology research. We are looking for highly motivated candidates to support our ongoing preclinical studies. Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor's degree in biochemistry or other equivalent biomedical fields. - Western blotting
- PCR, RT-PCR
- Plasmid preparation
- Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA Recombinant virus production and purification
- Cell culture, cell isolation
- Functional studies
- Transfection
- Immunohistochemistry
- Microscopy
- ELISA
- Cytokine assay
- Breeding and screening transgenic mice
- Dissections
- Blood Collection
- Database management of colony
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated laboratory experience;
- Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols;
- Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations;
- Attention to detail and accurate record keeping;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Manual dexterity.
