The Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs, in the Department of International Affairs, Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University is recruiting up to 2 Research Assistant Professors (nontenure track) full-time, nine-month positions with the earliest possible start date beginning in Spring 2024 and the positions have the possibility of renewal. The Research Assistant Professor for the Pandemic Preparedness & Biosecurity Policy Program will teach courses, conduct research, publish scholarly pieces, provide seminars and other presentations, perform literature reviews, assist in proposal writing,
The total number of classes expected to be taught during the academic year would be four classes (class options may change, depending on the successful candidate's area of expertise): 1) Infectious Disease in the Developing World; 2) Defense against 21st Century Biological Threats; 3) Science and Policy; 4) Health of Refugees and Displaced Persons; 5) Defense Against Agricultural Bioterrorism
In addition to teaching, the department would expect the Research Assistant Professor to: conduct research on issues related to global health security, biodefense, biosecurity, medicine, one health, biotechnology, laboratory biosafety/biosecurity, and related policy topics; Create two-to-three-page synopses of policy papers and research for policymakers; Identify appropriate information sources and topics for research papers, grants, op-ed pieces, books, and classes; Compile data and create tables and/or infographics for research papers, grants, op-ed pieces, books, and classes; Draft literature reviews.

Qualifications
This position requires a Ph.D. relevant to global health security, biodefense, biosecurity, medicine, one health, biotechnology, or a related field. All appointees are expected to be committed to teaching and research of the highest quality.
