Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. Job Description
Under supervision, performs medical work in a specialized field in a health care facility as a participant in a residency training program.
Duties & Responsibilities
In a formalized residency program in a specialty, and under supervision:
1. Makes ward rounds, examines patients, takes medical histories, prescribes laboratory tests, provides medical treatment and arranges for follow-up treatments or makes appropriate disposition of cases.
2. Provides outpatient medical care in clinics and in emergency rooms and similar facilities.
3. Advises patients or responsible members of families concerning special care, diet, use of drugs or medicines, and other medical matters.
4. May supervise and provide training experience for other residents assigned to the service, program, area, etc.
5. Attends clinic conferences, lectures, training sessions, etc.
6. Maintains records and prepares reports.
7. Performs related work.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduation from an accredited medical school, or other acceptable medical credentials.
2. Completion of approved number of years of post-graduate training consistent with this PGY level corresponding to the particular current program level.
