About the College/Unit/Department

Part of the Division of Student Affairs, University Housing consists of nearly 2.8 million square feet of facilities and is home to more than 9,000 students. The department employs 220 full-time staff members, 21 graduate assistants and 565 undergraduate student workers. As a self-supporting auxiliary, University Housing operates a $59 million budget derived only from student housing fees and other non-state sources.

In support of its mission to provide comfortable, affordable and secure housing options where the academic success and personal growth of residents are encouraged and supported, University Housing engages staff members in competency-based training and students in curriculum-based engagement focused on community building, interpersonal skills, social awareness and responsibility, and well-being.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in College Student Affairs Administration, student personnel or related area.
  • Experience in advising student organizations.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and assessing strategic goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Experience in managing a budget.
  • Experience working groups that operate within state, regional or national organizations.
  • ART (Advisor Resource Training) Certification.


Position Summary

This is a position of which the primary function is to create safe, comfortable, and inclusive communities that have a focus on student learning. Special emphasis is given in autonomously leading programmatic and student leadership initiatives, advising student groups and the supervision of graduate residents. The successful candidate will be an active and engaging member of the department and prepared to oversee a student leadership program for 8500 residential students. The Residential Leadership Coordinator is an integral part of the team and is a full-time, live-in professional.

• Ability to multitask and find creative solutions in a supervisory and autonomous environment
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard
• Strong oral and written communication skills need to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and administrators

1. Serve as the primary advisor to the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) and the Residence Hall Association (RHA) by recruiting, training student officers, and managing funds.

2. Recruit, select, train, supervise and evaluate graduate resident for student leadership.

3. Coordinate travel arrangements for and accompany students to state, regional and national student leadership conferences and meetings.

1. Provide direct oversight for the creation and implementation of University Housing's residential student leadership initiatives.

2. Create, implement, and assess annual and on-going NRHH and RHA officer training programs.

3. Develop and implement departmental training efforts for professional staff focused on student leadership initiatives.
