Job Description - Maintains knowledge of various methods of oxygen deliver, including the necessary equipment. - Remains alert, assesses possible side effects to oxygen delivery. - Administers respiratory therapy treatments, understands the purpose of each and the possible side effects associated with each. Has the ability to react to those side effects appropriately. - Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators and the associated critical care duties required for such treatments, such as airway management and tracheal suctioning, including troubleshooting. - Able to assess patient for optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation. Ability to educate on modalities and make appropriate physician contact for intervention when appropriate. - Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for blood as analysis, and understands the possible complications and contraindications associated with the procedure. Ability to react to these complications. - Follows departmental equipment sterilization procedures. - Documents all pertinent data in the patient's medical record following completion of any service. Skills/Education - Current RRT license. - Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory therapy. - Successful completion of Neonatal Resuscitation certification recommended. - ACLS certification required - BLS certification required Wage is dependent on years of licensed experience and certification. Shifts will be 3-12 hours shifts with every other weekend and holidays required. Will rotate to nights as needed.
