Job Summary

Respiratory students currently enrolled in a CoARC-approved respiratory program will report to the Respiratory Supervisor and under the supervision of the Registered/Certified Respiratory Therapist (RT) will provide designated direct and indirect patient care activities and assist in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient operations. The patient population ranges from young adults through late adulthood.

Essential Functions
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Performs designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs.
  • Monitors, promotes, and maintains a care environment that facilitates safe and effective patient care and reports any changes to the RT.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Performs pressure, volumes, and EST checks on all ventilator types to ensure proper equipment function and preparation for use.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

Student currently enrolled in a CoARC-accredited college respiratory program

AND

Experience:

Successful completion of Introductory Respiratory Care course, one medical surgical or general medical clinical rotation, and successful completion of the skills labs associated with that rotation.

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:

American Heart Association - Basic Life Support CPR certification

Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.
