General Overview
Innovation is a 140 person Mass General Brigham business development unit responsible for the worldwide commercial application of the breakthroughs and unique capabilities of MGB's 82,000 employees and Harvard faculty. It drives revenue generation and patient benefit through industry collaborations, investing, company creation, licensing, and innovation management for MGB's Harvard Medical School appointed faculty and hospitals including its core Harvard affiliates -- Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear and McLean Hospital.
The Innovation Revenue Management Specialist will be responsible for supporting the revenue cycle within Innovation. This position requires knowledge of understanding license agreement, revenue and distribution policy, invoicing and cost recovery.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Extensive knowledge of the systems supporting finance and operations to drive efficiency and process improvement.
• Ability to independently drive process improvements across the team and develop supporting standards, and document SOP
• Extensive knowledge of financial workflows as related to license income invoicing, collection, distributions, patent expense reimbursement and recoveries.
• Provide training to new team members.
• Ability to audit distribution policy compliance with Hospital policie
• Skillfully decipher and translate policy and contract language to actionable items.
• Performs distribution and check request approvals.
• Mentor and coach Revenue Coordinator and Senior Revenue Coordinator.
• Ability to provide analysis, tracking, trending of key metrics to leadership.
• Ability to partner with licensing managers on problem solving and solutioning.
• Manages assignment and priority of support tickets including turnaround times with in service level agreements for the team.
• Must be able to execute all Revenue Coordinator and Senior Revenue Coordinator activities.

• BA or BS required
• MS or MBA Preferred
• At least 8 years experience in finance adminstration or related experience preferably in an academic institution setting
• Ability to mentor, coach other
• Independent thinker, limited supervision required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skill
• Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, define root causes and implement appropriate solutions/process improvement
• Interface with internal and external stakeholders to answer questions and resolve issue
Skills, Abilities and Competencies
• Ability to understand Innovation agreement and their sections (including key milestones)
• Knowledge of distribution policy
• Auditing and processing high volume of distribution policies and revenue distribution
• Interface with external parties to answer questions and resolve issue
