Risk Management Specialist II

*This position is a hybrid work schedule which includes coming into the office every Tuesday and also be on the fire watch rotation. Fire watch rotation means the team members take turns coming in throughout the week so RSM is available in office if needed.
You must be a Texas resident or willing to relocate.

WHO YOU ARE:
You are a highly motivated risk professional ready to join the Risk & Security Management Department. You will serve as a resource to promote and protect the agency, its employees, contractors, and customers, by managing and mitigating risk. You are a self-starting, collaborative problem solver who understands the value of teamwork and following risk management practices.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Risk Management Specialist II performs moderately complex (journey-level) risk management work. Work involves developing and implementing agency risk management programs and conducting risk management reviews. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
- Collaborate in the planning, developing, and implementing department statewide initiatives.
-Assist with emergency management and continuity initiatives.
-Develop, implement, and review risk management program policies and procedures.
-Assist with department incident reports for assessment and risk mitigation.
-Review risk programs for compliance with applicable state laws and agency policies.
-Conduct on-site inspections of agency facilities to identify hazards and risk exposures.
-Consult with other risk management representatives in developing plans to mitigate risk.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:
Graduation from high school or equivalent plus two years of full-time experience in planning or operation of risk management, information security, loss control, and/or the workers' compensation and safety programs.
Experience and post-secondary education may be substituted for one another on a year-to-year basis.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
-Working knowledge of statutes, rules/regulations, standards, guidelines, and best practices involving the department's core areas of risk management, continuity/emergency management, safety, and physical security.
-Ability to gather, correlate, and analyze facts, to devise solutions to problems.
-State agency experience.
-Risk management-related certification(s).
