In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. About the Team
The USDS Privacy and Integrated Security team is responsible for overseeing and governing all activities of privacy impacts to TikTok USDS' operations.
- We address complex and cutting-edge challenges, aiming to build the world's most trusted social media platform.
- We partner with TikTok global legal, R&D, Privacy and Data Protection Office, and security organizations in advancing our privacy practices.
- We oversee, govern and support the integration and optimization of operational privacy capabilities including data inventory, data classification, data retention/deletion, and incident response, etc., to ensure scalable, and compliant privacy and data protection practices.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated (Privacy) Risk Manager. This role is critical in ensuring the privacy of TikTok users and the integrity of the USDS operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of security and privacy risks, from product and operation perspectives, and will work closely with global and USDS teams to continuously drive risk reduction in order to build greater trust in the TikTok platform.

As a direct report to the Head of Privacy and Integrated Security, you will be primarily responsible for establishing an enterprise level (privacy) risk management framework; developing, implementing, and operating a process to identify, prioritize, monitor, remediate, treat, and report on risk.

Responsibilities
- Establish a privacy risk management framework and processes. Develop and implement privacy policies and procedures in line with security principles and industry frameworks.
- Champion privacy risk management for USDS, ensuring TikTok products and operational alignment with applicable global, US and state privacy regulations. Partner with global legal, R&D, security, data protection and privacy risk management teams to advance privacy practice through continuous risk reduction.
- Manage the risk register, distinguishing product privacy and operational privacy, assigning ownership, tracking risk items, and prioritizing risks. Communicate privacy risk findings and strategies effectively to partner teams and leadership.
- Perform risk monitoring, managing the risk remediation process, ensuring risk treatment plans are executed effectively. Own risk reporting, creating reports to inform stakeholders and risk owners.
- Provide guidance and support for regulatory/external inquiries and audits, and articulate in terms of privacy risks.
- Understand enterprise business relationships and processes to ensure privacy risks are identified and managed throughout the business lifecycle.
- Demonstrate empathy towards business and engineering constraints with the common goal of advancing privacy and building the world's most trusted social media and entertainment platform.
- Engage in special projects and additional responsibilities may be needed as the team expands and capabilities are enhanced.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Law, or a related field. Candidates with significant relevant experience in security, privacy and data protection fields will also be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Hands-on experience conducting control validation, risk assessments and tracking remediation plans. 5+ years relevant technical experience, such as in risk management, product compliance management, privacy compliance.
- Knowledge of global and US privacy regulations, GDPR, COPPA, CCPA, etc. Fundamental knowledge of industry standards frameworks (NIST Privacy Framework, ISO/IEC 27701, NIST RMF, ISO 31000, COBIT, IAPP guidelines, etc.)
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration skills in leading or contributing to multi-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of enterprise business relationships and their impact on risk tolerance and decisions.

Preferred Qualifications
- CISSP, CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, or CRISC is a plus.
- Cyber security, information security, or privacy engineering experience in R&D setting.
- If you do not have privacy risk management experience but have strong cyber security and risk management experience, we encourage you to apply.
