The Certified Nurse Aid Instructor will be responsible for program oversight and providing instruction in accordance with New York State Certified Nurse Aid curriculum approved by the Department of Health/Department of Education. This position is tasked with delivering high quality training in both technical skills and employability skills to prepare students for long-term employment success. The RN Certified Nurse Aid Instructor will provide program monitoring and curricular updates, maintain training records, and assess students' progress per industry-validated standards in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner. This position will work in a team environment to support student completion and assist with job placement decisions to maximize quality of workplace experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Instruct a Certified Nurse Aide curriculum as created by the Department of Health and mandated by NYS Education Department.
• Coordinate the didactic portion of the program, conduct supervised practical training, and perform competency evaluations.
• Instruct students daily in practical and clinical skills as they relate to NY states certification requirements.
• Maintain departmental goals and standards of operation.
• Implement formative and summative assessments of student learning that maximizes student achievement and employment outcomes.
• Ensure proper safety processes in classrooms and laboratories.
• Consistently model and expect exemplary employability skills from students.
• Adapt teaching style to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Ensure that academic and attendance records are accurate, supervised practical training is documented, along with completed written tests, and evaluation forms and a copy of the completion certificate are all stored in a filing system for up to 6 years.
• Assist with program reports, including but not limited to an annual program review, employment tracking, contract monitoring, and outcomes assessment.
• Assist with submission of a continuing practice application to NYSED as required.
• Ensure all graduates have met all competencies at the level deemed appropriate by industry standards.
• Ensure that local, state and national regulatory processes are followed accurately and that the programs remain in good standing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must possess a currently active NYS license as a Registered Nurse
• Must have a minimum of two years experience working in a skilled nursing facility (long term care facility/nursing home)
• Cannot be on the Office of Medicaid Inspector General's list of Restricted, Terminated or Excluded Individuals, or the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General's list of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
• College, vocational or proprietary school teaching experience a plus.

Additional Information:

The Certified Nurse Assistant certification program is a required 75 hours of instruction, lab, and clinical hours. The programs will run in 2-week increments with number of cohorts dependent on student enrollment. Programs will be offered in the evenings.
