Job Summary:
The Critical Care Nurse Clinician/ Women's and Children's Hospital and Women's Patient Flow /Rapid Response Nurse (CNCC/PF/RR) functions as the Patient Flow Manager and the Primary Rapid Response & Code Nurse and House Supervisor for the Children's Hospital and resource for Women's Services Units. This position requires a high clinically skilled registered nurse, who possesses critical care and emergency response knowledge, leadership ability, understanding of patient flow principles and house wide administrative practices.

This position responds to, functions as and is responsible for the following:
Onsite Patient Flow Manager, in direct and continuous collaborating with Erlanger Regional Operations Center, Clinical Leadership, and stakeholders to ensure the optimum, effective, efficient and safe flow of patients while promoting a patient centered and team-focused environment.
Coordinate with physicians and clinical staff on plan of care and implementation, with the overarching goal of improving patient outcomes as indicated.

Rapid Response Team Leader for all for all Children's facility emergencies, to include, Rapid Response Alerts, Trauma alerts, Code Blues, Sepsis, Emergency Blood Releases, and assists with transferring critically ill patients to the ICU.

Serves as House Incident Commander responsible for rapidly triaging patients to determine treatment options as indicated.

Providing onsite leadership; functional resource, and oversight of administrative policies and processes, for all clinical and ancillary operations.

Assist with staffing decisions in conjunction with Nurse Managers, Staffing Office and ACNO.

Education:
Required:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Preferred:
BSN with exception upon approval by Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Women's and Children's or Erlanger Chief Nurse Executive

Experience:
Required:
Three to five years of nursing experience, with two years of pediatric ICU and/or pediatric ED nursing experience within the past five years.
Strong communication, leadership, team building, project-management and organization skills

Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skill with ability to conceptualize solutions to challenging situations and implement practical plans

Preferred:
Charge or Lead Nurse experience
Process or quality improvement experience
EMS or Pre-Hospital provider experience, knowledge or education

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee, or if non-Tennessee resident, current multistate compact Licensure to practice nursing.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, within 6 months of hire

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, completed prior to position start

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 month of hire

Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN), Pediatric Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON), Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) or obtain within 6 months.

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

Preferred:
Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor

Department Position Summary:
Critical Care Nurse Clinician/Women's and Children's Hospital Patient Flow / Rapid Response (CNCC/PF/RR) Nurse must take on many roles, patient flow management and capacity planning, ICU nurse, ED nurse, floor nurse, OR nurse, patient representative, grief counselor, physician liaison, case manager, educator, etc. Flexibility is required as he/she will be asked to function as Patient Flow Manager, care for patients in extreme distress and serves Rapid Response and Code Team Lead Nurse, House Supervisor, Hospital Incident Commander, etc. The Women's and Children's CNCC/PF/RR Nurse will be directly supervised by the Women's and Children's Hospital Associate Chief Nursing Officer. The management team will collaborate on duties, processes, and roles within Children's Hospital and health system-wide activities.

The purpose of this position is to direct patient flow and manage capacity, provide clinical expertise and continuity of care for emergency room, acute care, critically ill patients in multiple settings and function as 'House' management, providing oversight of administrative and operational processes. This position requires a motivated, skilled, experienced and qualified nurse with pediatric experience, which may include emergency and critical care experience to manage patients in a variety of situations and environments, and the desire to continue education growth. Women's and Children's CNCC/PF/RR Nurse collaborates with the physicians and clinical staff to organize care delivery and to facilitate the flow of the patient through the system. The Women's and Children's CNCC/PF/RR Nurse provides onsite leadership, representing administration as need and has oversight and roles within administrative policies and processes throughout the Erlanger Health System. Women's and Children's CNCC/PF/RR Nurse is expected to collaborate with stakeholders in the development of standardized procedures and guidelines designed to improve patient care outcomes within the Women's and Children's inpatient areas.

The Women's and Children's CNCC/PF/RR shall possess the following:
Understanding of Patient Flow and Capacity management practices

He/She shall complete Advanced Credentialing process with direct supervision of the Children's Hospital Medical Directors
