Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients - Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter - provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia's Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across four nursing units.

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the Shift Supervisor 3:00 pm-11:30 pm primarily Monday-Friday. May be required to work some weekends as necessary. May serve as Charge Nurse as necessary. The individual will be providing supervision to staff and coordinating the organized nursing services and the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced for assigned units.

Conducting unit surveys, coordinating and/or recommending action to resolve observed or reported resident care, procedural or physical problems; resolving departmental staffing issues; attending nursing and other meetings as assigned.
This position is responsible for the management of staff, and for maintaining sound organizational relationships with staff within the facility, residents, and resident's families while ensuring that continuous quality care is provided.
Coordination of nursing services during their shift and the duties will include, but not be limited to the following:
Demonstrating leadership and management skills in the effective utilization of staff resources.
Providing supervision to staff; participating in formulating, interpreting and implementing departmental objectives.
Providing quality resident care in compliance with established guidelines and regulations.
Reviewing the effectiveness of resident care plans, departmental and facility administrative policies and procedures.
Updating care plans; receiving and giving daily reports, making rounds (observes physical and mental status of residents)

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in VA.
Prior experience in leadership or management.

Additional Considerations

Prior experience in a long-term care or adult geriatric setting is preferred.
