Responsibilities

Develops and provides workplace programs and outreach to the occupational and environmental health and safety community. Works collaboratively with clinical staff and physicians by planning, providing and evaluating care of patient/clients. Performs various tests following OSHA guidelines. Administers immunizations, provides patient educational material, and maintains medical/pharmaceutical supplies.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $73,528 - $95,597 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides Direct Patient Care. Escorts patients to exam rooms. Reviews patient charts to anticipate health needs and organize flow. Obtains and records patient vital signs. Provides direct patient care services per scope of occupational health practice. Gathers and relays instructions and information between providers, patients and employers. Contributes to maintaining an accurate, comprehensive recordkeeping system, while maintaining medical confidentiality as per local, state and federal guidelines.Administers immunizations as directed and per scope of practice guidelines. Reviews medications at the time of visit as directed by provider. Maintains inventory of and orders pharmaceutical/medical supplies, with attention to expiration dates and infection prevention guidelines. Under the supervision and direction of the provider, performs required clinical tests: 12-lead EKG, vision testing using Snellen chart, Titmus vision tester, or Ishihara plates, respirator fit-testing per OSHA guidelines, audiometry, and spirometry, urine drug testing procedures. Performs quality assurance and CLIA waiver testing as directed. Complies with all PCA policies and procedures. Complies with standard HIPAA, OSHA and JCAHO regulations.Provides clinical services at off-site clinics per scope of occupational health practice. Will involve occasional travel to local or regional sites.
- Provides Patient Education. Promoties wellness by providing materials and communicating provider instructions.
- Collects medication refill requests and communicates with the provider for direction. Works with calls to pharmacy and patients to insure timely prescription compliance. Works in tandem with office support staff to schedule client appointments.
- Collects specimens (blood, urine) for laboratory analysis and accurately records lab requisitions. Records and maintains appropriate laboratory logs.
- Counsels patients/clients on reduction of risks associated with occupational and environmental health and safety hazards, as well as potential exposures in their home and/or community. Participates in the development of workforce/population risk reduction and health surveillance programs and services. Fosters compliance with current laws and regulations governing workplace safety, health and environmental issues. Interacts with community organizations including the medical community, businesses and unions that provide health and safety resources.
- Demonstrates compliance with laws and regulations governing nursing practice. Maintains scientific and regulatory knowledge appropriate to the nursing profession and to occupational health.
- Provides nursing activity reports to be included in FLOHS quarterly and annual reporting to NYS DOH. Attends monthly Staff and QA meeting.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
- Master's degree in Nursing preferred
- 1 year of nursing required
- 3 years of nursing preferred
- or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Multidisciplinary knowledge base, including but not limited to, Nursing science, Medical science, Occupational medicine, Epidemiology, Toxicology, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Social and Behavioral sciences and Business principles required.
- Strong process orientation required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications required.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary setting required.
- Basic knowledge of wound care and dressings required.
- Basic knowledge of immunizations required.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Licensed by the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse upon hire required.
- AHA BLS certification upon hire require.
- COHN-S - Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist Certification as a COHN-S/CM (Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist/Case Manager) through the American Board of Occupational Health Nursing upon hire preferred.
- CAOHC certified as Occupational Hearing Conservationist upon hire preferred.
- NIOSH trained in spirometry preferred.
- DOT Breath Alcohol Technician Instructor preferred.
- DOT Drug Testing Collector Instructor preferred.
