Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing and specific supervision of the Radiologist and/or Unit Charge Nurse and Radiology Manager/Director, the radiology/special procedures nurse will be responsible for the care of patients undergoing special procedures, for monitoring and dispensing medication to patients during procedural sedation, including the pre and post-procedure periods.The nurse will also be responsible for direct and indirect delivery of patient care of all ages for a wide variety of patient population through the use of the nursing process and the maintenance of the standards of the professional nursing practice. Responsibilities include PICC insertion to adolescent, adult and geriatric population. Knowledge of selection of appropriate vascular access device for each patient. Additionally, the nurse is responsible for advanced skill set regarding vascular access including use of ultrasound, peripheral insertion and port access.

ALL REGISTERED NURSES will render professional nursing care to patients, support medical care as directed by physicians. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health/Dominican Hospital. Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Six months experience in critical care and/or ED setting but a combination of education or other experience and specialty training may be considered
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Proficient in English. Verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills required.


License/Registration/Certification:
  • Current and active CA RN license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current PALS certification
  • Current NIHSS Stroke Certifications


Preferred:
  • 5+ years in nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • CCRN
  • PICC insertion, port, IR and IV therapy experience preferred
