Under the direction of the OB Nurse Manager, delivers quality nursing care to newborn/maternal patients on the OB Unit. Assures that patient/family needs are met. Provides for open communication within the unit, with patients, families, physicians, other units and departments. Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures. Builds and maintains professional relationships.

  • Carries out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures functioning within the limitations of the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Established treatment priorities based on the medical and nursing diagnosis.
  • Recognizes patient problems/complications and intervenes appropriately.
  • Accountable for the safe administration of medication.
  • Assess patient needs for discharge planning on admission.
  • Plans and coordinates work flow to ensure completion of assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Assesses patient/family physical and psychosocial needs.
  • Identifies need for patient/family teaching.
  • Actively involves patient/family in plan of care when appropriate.
  • Reports significant changes inpatient condition/response to treatment to supervisor/physician promptly.


Requirements

  • Must be currently licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Colorado.
  • One year recent relevant experience preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS and NRP required upon hire or within 6 months and must remain current.
  • New Graduates will be required to have ACLS and NRP within 1 year of RN licensure.
  • Must be willing to cross-train into all areas of the OB Department
