Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Nursing Supervisor is a Registered Nurse RN who is accountable
for the staffing, patient flow and coordination of patient care
activities among the hospital departments during his/her shift. The
Nursing Supervisor supports the delivery of Patient-Centered Care and
serves as a role model for customer service and professional behaviors
and communication. The Nursing Supervisor ensures that staffing levels
are maintained to promote productivity and patient safety and makes
frequent rounds to monitor staff workload and resolve patient care
issues. The Nursing Supervisor is the point person for patient flow
and must appropriately prioritize and communicate patient bed placement
plans, working collaboratively with physicians, nursing departments,
admitting and housekeeping. The Nursing Supervisor demonstrates
excellent critical thinking skills and assists in problem-solving
patient care issues and responds to patient complaints during his/her
shift. The Nursing Supervisor is also expected to have a working
understanding of HR policy and assists in identifying employee behavior
issues as well as handling employee exposures and injuries during
his/her shift.
