The role you'll contribute:

• Utilizes his/her knowledge and skills in safe and effective nursing care in the operating room
• Makes sound judgments in referring situations beyond his/;her ability and/or scope of function to the proper person
• Carries out those activities delegated by the physician which concern medications, treatment and diagnostic measures
• Knows the laws and their legal interpretation which influences the practice of nursing
• Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required and good judgment
• Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians
• Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and functions under stressful situations
• Maintains thorough and complete record of each patient’s procedure according to established standard of care
• Knows available supplies and equipment and their use within the OR suite
• Prepares and maintains sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment
• Care for specimens properly and handles their disposition according to hospital/lab policy
• Reviews policies and procedures as they relate to nursing functions in the Operating Room and recommends those changes

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED :

• One year of general nursing experience in an acute care setting
• ASN or BSN from accredited school of nursing
• Registered nurse license with the Georgia State Board of Examiners
• BCLS Certification
• ACLS Certification within 3 months of hire date
• PALS Certification within 6 months of hire date

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION PREFERRED :

• CNOR preferred
