Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • \ A ssist with training needs for each department.
  • Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class and student records.
  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to department directors concerning staff development programs.
  • Establish a priority system of staff development training needs, and develop a training program to meet those needs.
  • A ssume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of maintaining the in-service training program under the direction of the DON.
  • Provide personnel with training and information governing established policies and procedures concerning exposure or blood/body fluids with the direction of the Infection Control nurse.
  • Serve on various committees of the facility as directed.
  • Assist the staff in understanding their duties and improving every facet of their performance.
  • Meet with personnel, as appropriate, to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
  • Promote the morale of all personnel and maintain a spirit of cooperation.
  • Communicate the program in such a way to encourage staff participation and involvement.
  • Help orient newly assigned staff personnel and promote professional upgrading of all personnel.
  • Attend, participate in, and evaluate workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes and teaching techniques in the health care field.
  • Attend outside training programs and activities that will add to your professional growth.
  • Provide annual in-servicing training of staff members concerning Standard Precautions.
  • Assist in the preparation, scheduling, and selection of instructional equipment, training aids, and materials, in order to provide an excellent in-service program.
  • Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
  • Intitiating infection control measure as required and directed, with knowledge of State and Federal regulations, ensuring facility compliance.
  • Educating and managing personnel as it related to infection control
  • Overseeing resident care as it relates to infection control and working with other departments to meet this goal.
  • Leading the Infection Control Committee and conduct routine meetings.
  • Conducting rounds on the nursing units to monitor compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Identifying infection control problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Collecting and reporting data related to infections.
