Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of clinical staff within assigned areas to include remote locations
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, approved standards, and applicable laws and regulations; implement corrective actions as warranted
  • Consistently model the organization's philosophy of customer service by demonstrating responsibility for improvement of operational efficiency
  • Actively participate in recruitment, hiring, and orientation of all patient services center clinical personnel
  • Proven management skills and sound, independent judgment. Initiative, organizational and interpersonal skills are a must
  • Responsible for scheduling of staff, on call, holiday and weekend coverage; ensure appropriate and competent staffing is in place in all sites
  • Utilize staffing model to ensure adequate and safe par levels concurrent with expense allocation
  • Evaluate employee performance; discuss achievements and areas requiring attention with employee; submit recommendations (compensation/advancement/disciplinary action) to senior management
  • Monitor staff compliance with ongoing education, training programs, and competency evaluations; document results and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Orient new personnel to Optum policy regarding addressing/resolving ethical considerations in patient care
  • Manage personnel records as required by policy
  • Ensure care coordination between patient service center and associated homecare sites
  • Manage the clinical operations and staff of the regional home care or diabetes center
  • Manage the quality management process and activities of the patient services center and develop action plans with follow-up procedures and documentation
  • Provide procedures and a system for staff communication that ensures coordinated implementation of plans of treatment and utilization of necessary services for comprehensive care of patients
  • Ensure that any equipment and/or service problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Establish appropriate community awareness of services provided and accuracy of informational materials and activities
  • Ensure senior management decisions and directives are carried out
  • Additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Current unrestricted nursing license for state of residence
  • Current unrestricted nursing license for state of California OR eligible to obtain CA license
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • 1+ years of obstetrical nursing experience
  • 1+ years of diabetes experience
  • Technology knowledge requirements to include desktop/laptop computer proficiency; use of analytical software, Microsoft Office, Outlook (internet and email). Attend in-services on applicable technology enhancements
  • Proven ability to maintain clinical skills and required certifications, licensure, and the credentials
  • Proven ability to participate in required continuing education, staff meetings, competency training, and assessments
  • Proven ability to correctly operate multiple devices/systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with disabilities
  • Proven management skills and sound independent judgment. Initiative, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proven exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven skills to deal with patient/family conflict resolution and grievances
  • Additional state required qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN degree
  • Masters degree
  • Call Center experience
