POSITION SUMMARY:

The RN Transfusion Safety Officer is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the operation of the Blood Management Program identifying opportunities for program improvements based upon review of regulatory standards, industry trends and internal processes, to ensure the safe and effective use of blood products and blood product alternatives. Responsible for establishing, monitoring and maintaining blood and blood product safety protocols and procedures which comply with hospital policies and government safety regulations. Acts as a resource to nurses, clinicians and staff related to blood transfusion questions and blood administration problems; conducts audits on the utilization of blood products and their alternatives; identifies and investigates any trends related to transfusion practices; participates in the investigation of errors and accidents and reports these to hospital and medical staff leadership.

Who Should Apply:
  • RN License required. FL State or Compact License
  • BSN required
  • 5 years of experience in healthcare, blood management, nursing or care coordination
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, ancillary, and support staff
