CPP-Syracuse is a manufacturer of premium investment castings for the Air Craft and Industrial Gas Turbine industry and has been in business for over 70 years. We have over 275 employees currently working in our Chittenango, NY facility.

We are currently looking for an experienced individual for our Cut Clean Grind department. The Rough Grinder is a critical position in assuring the aerospace parts are precisely cut. We will train; experience is preferred. This position is on the 1st shift (Monday- Friday 4a-12:30pm) with overtime as needed. Pay rate for this position is $20.33/hour. This position also qualifies for a $1,000 sign-on bonus!

Rough Grinder - This position the successful candidate to perform duties related to the removal of gate material to a specified gate height. The successful candidate will be able to gauge the gate for height compliance and be able to examine the casting for defects and may be required to perform the function of a sandblast or shell removal operator as needed. The ability to use basic gauges and measuring devices is required. Previous manufacturing experience preferred. The successful candidate will also be able to Identify and implement improvement opportunities through the use of tools such as Systematic Problem Solving, Process Management, Value Stream Mapping, etc.

Major Responsibilities:

• Sets up and operates saws, machines and equipment to properly remove extra alloy from spurs, pour cups and gated surfaces.
• Use fixtures as appropriate to hold and secure molds
• Read and follow Product Engineering Instructions (PEIs), work instructions, travelers, special instructions, etc. to ensure the parts are cut to specifications.
• Assure all documentation is followed accordingly
• Distinguish between scrap and usable castings
• Demonstrate care and operation of each cut off method
• Use designated PPE and follow instructions accordingly
• Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures
• Must be able to read and to write legibly.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Certifications/Licenses: None
• Experience: Entry Level Position - Prior manufacturing experience a plus
