General Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting, supporting and fostering the M-K “safety culture;” aggressively monitoring job site compliance with safety, environmental hazards and loss prevention policies, practices, legal regulations and conditions and taking immediate action (including temporarily “shutting down” work at a job site) to prevent work related injuries and accidents; ensuring that proper safety equipment, resources, materials, etc. are present and being utilized on job sites; recommending and taking action to improve safety conditions and programming; providing job site training and development to team members and subcontractors; communicating and collaborating with business unit construction supervisors and team members, as well as management and team members throughout the company, to integrate operations and processes for the benefit of the company as a whole; supporting and ensuring adherence to all company core values, operating and regulatory compliance policies and practices.Essential Duties:
  • Performs a variety of duties to assist in fostering and continually improving the Morgan-Keller, Inc safety culture.
  • Assists in facilitating all government safety inspections for designated locations and responds in a timely manner, in coordination with facility management, to inquiries and inspections by loss control service provider or government agency (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, Insurance Carrier, etc.).
  • Recommends efficient and effective systems, equipment, materials, etc. that have the potential to enhance the safety culture and improve working conditions for team members and subcontractors.
  • As directed, participates in construction industry activities and conferences, including trade associations and other related referral and networking groups, to expand knowledge and to continually project a good image for M-K.
  • Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
  • Communicates with all levels of management and team member personnel throughout the company, in order to integrate goals and activities.
  • Responds to inquiries or requests relating to his/her particular area within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proficient reading, writing, grammar, organizational and analytical skills; proficient in Spanish; proficient interpersonal relations, listening and communicative skills; proficient abilities relating to identifying, investigating and resolving job site hazards; exceptionally thorough and oriented toward being able to handle multiple activities simultaneously; collaborative and generative attitudes and abilities toward working as part of a team; demonstrated decision-making and problem solving skills; proficient computer and technology skills; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license. Education/Experience:
  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred; must be bi-lingual and able to effectively communicate with Hispanic team members; specific training and education focused on safety and loss prevention preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience in safety and loss prevention positions; experience in the construction industry helpful.
